Hate is the new trend.

You have to be better than everyone else in this competitive world. To be known. To be celebrated. To be respected. To be successful. And, to capture attention. And any means to that end seems to be justifiable in this emerging era of hatred.

How petty can we be, when we choose to attack others to gain the momentary limelight. What could one possibly gain out of those hateful comments on social media which not only hurt sentiments but can fairly damage an individual. It is as if being bitter, rude and mean to everyone we don’t care about establishes our supremacy.

We keep seeking self validation in our capacity to prove ourselves better than others. What we forget is that this approval needs to be internal, based upon who we really are. Upon what we want to become. Upon how we treat our fellow beings who might not mean anything to us. When we choose to act with kindness, even when the alternative would cause us no harm, that is true greatness. That is true supremacy. That is where we might see ourselves as better than others.

While I do not blame the social media completely, it has played a significant role in manifestation of this instinct of criticism, judgements, hatred, teasing, etc. We sometimes do not even spare our own lot of friends or acquaintances out of it. What is the first reaction of most of the people checking posts and updates in their feed? Even if we playfully pass negative comments, it develops into a habit we can’t get rid off. It becomes our first instinct to look for negative rather than positive. And how long would it be before we begin to form a complete negative perception for that person, for no real reason?

We see our fellow mates taking efforts to do something productive, or work for their passion, which might be trivial or even foolish for us. But rather than mocking and criticizing them, supporting them in the most little of their endeavours will not just encourage them, but instigate a sense of happiness in their lives. And we all know how contagious happiness and smiles are!

So let us just abandon this culture of hatred and jealousy and embrace love, kindness and happiness. For one man’s meat doesn’t have to be another’s posion. Because when we lend a hand, there is always someone ready to hold. And when we pick the fallen, there will always be someone out there for us.

Hatred, just sucks the positivity and real sense of joy from our lives, while kindness, love and friendship can take us to newer heights of success. Success where we’ll be known, respected and truly celebrated.

Let love and kindness be the new trend! ๐ŸŒธ
